初期のアルバム３枚ですが、レコード会社の事情でCDに関しては、販売終了しておりますが、配信では、昨年、初期の３アルバムを再リリースしまして、試聴可能となっております。

9月24日発売の新譜「African Suite」ですが、JazzLife誌のレビューが届きました。
かなり「深掘り」されていて、自分が目指してきた音楽の有り様が、丸裸にされているような気分になる程、的確で、鋭い視点がありました。嬉しくもあり、やや恥ずかしい気持ちにもなりますが、驚くほど正確な楽曲の分析をされていて、聴き返して納得のレビューだなと思いました。

I received a review in JazzLife magazine about my new album, "African Suite," which was released on September 24th. 
The review dug quite deep, and was so precise and insightful that it made me feel like the very essence of the music I've been striving for was being laid bare. 
I was both pleased and a little embarrassed, but the analysis of the songs was surprisingly accurate, and after listening to it again, I found the review to be very convincing.

今年も村井さんに書いてもらいました。アルバムを隅々までよく聴いていただいているのがわかります。
マッコイタイナー氏の名前が出てきてもう興奮状態。どうなんだろう？自分では、わからないけれど、制作のロジックが似ているのかな？確かにモーダル多用でフリージャズに傾倒してはいるけれど。
作品紹介にも書いてありますが、表題曲の３曲は１７歳の頃のピアノインプロが元になっています。後年のPiano Improvisation ＃４６に通じるフリージャズの流れは続いていくのだろうなと思います。
村井さんの個人的推し曲も、私とシンクロしていて、これまた嬉しいレビューでした。

Jazz Critic Review of Hiro Ogawa's New Album "African Suite" 
Murai-san wrote this review again this year. It's clear he's listened carefully to every detail of the album. 
The mention of McCoy Tyner got me excited. I wonder? I don't know, but perhaps my production logic is similar to his. I certainly use a lot of modals and am drawn to free jazz. 
As mentioned in the album introduction, the three title tracks are based on piano improvisations I did when I was 17. I believe the free jazz vein, which is evident in my later work, Piano Improvisation #46, will continue. 
Murai-san's personal favorite songs also resonated with me, which made this review even more enjoyable.

My new album, "African Suite," will be released on September 24th, and advertisements have appeared in jazz music magazines. 9月２４日発売の新譜「African Suite」のダイジェスト動画です。いいとこ取りの編集で^^

９月２４日発売のヒロオガワの新譜「African Suite」ですが、早くもサンプルが届きました。ほぼ製品仕様です。
思ってたよりジャケットがいい感じに仕上がっていて、ちょっぴり嬉しい。
早速試聴しましたが、デモの時より、バランスが格段に良くなってました、エンジニアに感謝です。
Piano Improvisation#46は、高音部がちょっと割れ気味なんだけれど、それは、おそらく、MDの時からあったのかな？って、、、、音圧あげると現れるやつね。総じてとても良いことに変わりはないです。
パッケージ全体もよく纏まったなぁ、という感想。今から楽しみです

The new album "African Suite" will be released on September 24th, and I have already received a sample. It is almost the full spec. The jacket is better than I expected, which makes me a little happy. I listened to it right away, and the balance is much better than the demo, so I'm grateful to the engineer. The high notes in Piano Improvisation #46 tend to crack a little, but maybe that was there from the mixdown? That's the kind of thing that appears when you increase the sound pressure. Overall, it's still very good. I feel like the whole package is well put together. I'm looking forward to the release.

秋の新譜「ヒロオガワ - African Suite」ですが、ジャケットデザインと発売日が決まりました。

2025年９月２４日（水）発売予定です。

近年では珍しく、早くに決まり、その後の展開が、運び易いのでありがたいことなのですが、同時に受けるプレッシャーも長くかかることに。

ジャケットデザインの方は、期待を裏切らないというか、想定以上の結果を出してくれるので、とても満足しています。また、フライヤーなど出来次第、順次アップしていきます。

画像は、バックインレイの候補２点です。恐らくどちらかが採用されて、文字種やレイアウトなど、デザイナーが仕事をしてくれる算段。

で、バックインレイには、大概、収録曲データを載せているのですが、今回も全１２曲の曲名が、書いてあります。

やはり特筆すべき曲は、アルバムタイトル曲である、African Suiteの３曲です。元曲はPiano Improvisation (1980年）なのですが、パーカッションやベース、SEなど足して、より雰囲気を増しています。

そして、近年の作品、Piano Improvisation#46も収録されているので、African Suiteと比較されると面白いかと思います。

1980年の即興では、割とかっちりしていてトナリティも安定していますが、近作では、自由度が増して無調に近いアプローチになっています。

The songs that are particularly noteworthy are the three songs in the African Suite, which is the title track of the album. The original song is Piano Improvisation (1980), but the addition of percussion, bass, and sound effects gives it a more atmospheric feel. The recent work, Piano Improvisation #46, is also included, so it would be interesting to compare it with the African Suite. The 1980 improvisation is quite strict and has a stable tonality, but the recent works have more freedom and an approach that is closer to atonality.

アフリカ組曲の３曲は、高校時代（１７歳）のPiano Improvisationが、元になっています。1980年頃にカセットテープに録音していた、膨大な演奏記録から、「これは！」と思える楽曲を聴き返し、耳コピ、一部スコア化などして、1988年～1990年にかけて、再現録音しました（完全なコピーではありません）。この３曲は、当時、ライブでも良く演奏していたのですが、その記録は残っていなくて少し残念です。その後、パーカスやベース、SEなどを加えて、今の形になったのが1994年頃。そして今回、さらに30年の時を経て、新録音、新編集で、披露することになりました。１７歳という「若さ」がフレーズのあちこちに出ていますが、それがまたフレッシュな感覚で、愛おしくさえあります。

Here is the story behind the creation and birth of African Suite 1-3 

The three pieces of African Suite are based on Piano Improvisation from his high school days (17 years old). From the vast amount of performance records recorded on cassette tapes around 1980, he listened back to the pieces that he thought were great, copied them by ear, and made some scores, and recorded them again and again from 1988 to 1990 (not a perfect copy). These three pieces were often performed live at the time, but it is a little disappointing that the records do not remain. After that, percussion, bass, SE, etc. were added, and the current form was formed around 1994. And now, after another 30 years, it is time to present them with new recordings and new edits. The youth of the 17-year-old is apparent in many of the phrases, which gives it a fresh feeling, and is even endearing.

表題の３曲は、初演がヒロオガワ、１７歳の時（1980年）。カセットテープに録音された音源を掘り起こし、再現演奏（1988年～90年）したものをリアレンジ、編集（1994年）したという。さらに昨年（2024年）、本作リリースのために再編集、リテイクしています。世紀を越えた伝説のプレイが蘇る、記念碑的アルバム。

秋の新譜「African Suite」ですが、ただいま、マスタリングの真っ最中です。

初回プルーフが、先日届いたのですが、全体的には、バランスよく、若干ボトムが強調された感じで、ずっしり感がありました。それでも、少し音圧が高すぎるかな？と思い、領域補正とともに注文をかける予定です。

My new fall album "African Suite" is currently in the middle of mastering. I received the first proof the other day, and overall it was well-balanced with a slight emphasis on the bottom, giving it a heavy feel. However, I still think the sound pressure is a little too high, so I'm going to place an order for it to be adjusted along with the range correction.

9月発売予定の新譜「African Suite」そのジャケット候補がこの２枚の画像です。いずれかに落ち着くとは思いますが、文字フォント、レイアウトなどは、デザイナーにお任せするので、印象はかなり変わるものと考えて間違い無いかと。
収録曲ですが、今回の目玉は、1980年（当時１７歳）初演のピアノインプロヴィゼーション３曲をもとに90年代にリメイクしてさらに今回、リリースにあたりブラッシュアップした、African Suite 1~3 です。
カセットテープに当時（1980年）の演奏が記録されており、それを耳コピ（完コピではありません）して、一部スコア化。９４年頃にリテイクが出来（＋パーカス、ベースなど）、さらに30年の時を越えて、昨年、楽曲がリビルドされました。

As for the songs included, the highlight this time is African Suite 1-3, which was remade in the 1990s based on three piano improvisations that premiered in 1980 (when I was 17 years old), and was further brushed up for this release. A retake was made around 1994 (plus percussion, bass, etc.), and after another 30 years, the songs were rebuilt last year.

Mai - This is an older version (released in 2011). It disappeared from the distribution site, so it has now been re-released (available from December  25th).
